Isle of Man Foodbank today announces the launch of the Reverse Advent Calendar campaign for 2018. This is the third time this annual campaign has been run. It started in 2016 when a post on Facebook by a supporter snowballed into a major project raising food donations for the work of Foodbank here on the Isle of Man. The idea is that you put aside an item a day throughout Advent, and then donate to Foodbank in the run-up to Christmas.
The Reverse Advent Calendar project has grown from strength to strength, and we are delighted with the support we have received from the Manx public. The past year has been a time of great change for Isle of Man Foodbank. Demands for our help have continued to rise, and during 2018 we reached the stage where a permanent base became necessary. We are currently providing in the region of 200 food parcels a month, and so the need for a steady supply of donations is ongoing. We have included a list of suggested contents for donation along with our publicity. In addition to food, we also provide some household basics such as toilet paper, personal toiletries and cleaning items.
If you would rather give a cash donation, either for Christmas or as a regular standing order, we would also be very grateful for this. This will help us to buy what is really needed in those leaner times of the year. It also helps us to manage more effectively the challenge of expiry dates and make the most of the generosity of the great Manx public.
